General Practice Network NT Ltd (GPNNT) is the peak organisation representing general practice and primary health care across the Northern Territory, Australia, with strong capacity to shape and influence NT and national Primary Health Care policy and practices. ‘Closing the gap’ between indigenous and non-indigenous NT health outcomes is central to GPNNT core business. Expression of Interest Expressions of interest are invited from primary health care providers to provide a specialised refugee health service for the Darwin region of the Northern Territory for newly arrived refugees. Funding is for 3 years ending 30 June 2011. This service will be delivered as part of a partnership arrangement between a primary health care service provider, GPNNT, the Department of Health and Families and the Melaleuca Refugee Centre. The intention of the service is to maximise the health and well being of newly arrived refugees by facilitating a smooth integration into mainstream primary health care services. Emphasis is not just on the delivery of clinically orientated medical services, but must also encompass a holistic consideration of the refugee persons needs in terms of health system literacy and navigation and the ability to undertake self care.
